Ten Years of the Net?

The headline of this article in the Belfast Telegraph caught my eye while I was surfing at just under light speed.

Ten whole years, huh?

Er, no. Ten years ago I got my first job with the title “Web” in it, but way back in 2003 I celebrated my:

• Ten year anniversary on the web (that’s with a web site, not just with a browser).
• Twenty year anniversary on the net (that’s with my own domain, not with a dialup account).
• Twenty-five year anniversary writing about the computer industry.

I’m sure there are many other people who can say the same, but I guess the Belfast Telegraph isn’t one of them.
